2023 Solicitation for ACTG CSS Applications

Jul 11, 2023

The ACTG Community Scientific Subcommittee (CSS) is accepting applications for the 2023 membership cycle. The CSS seeks qualified individuals from U.S. and non-US ACTG sites to apply for membership. In order to establish equitable regional representation, this year’s focus will target the Western Hemisphere. The composition of the CSS is mandated to reflect the impact of the global HIV epidemic and syndemic conditions including Tuberculosis Hepatitis, and other research areas served by the ACTG network including MPOX and COVID-19. People with HIV, HIV community advocates, MSM, transgender individuals, racial and ethnic minority men and women, populations historically underrepresented in HIV clinical research, and young adults are encouraged to apply. Membership in Community Advisory Boards (CABs) at ACTG clinical research sites is looked upon favorably in the application process. Applicants should possess a fundamental knowledge of HIV-related co-morbidities, and treatment issues. The business of the ACTG is conducted in English. All applicants must be proficient in the English language. Reliable access to the Internet and a computer is required.

CSS members are expected to advocate for community issues as part of protocol teams, science, working groups and resource committees and serve in leadership roles. The CSS applicant should expect to devote up to 10-15 hours a month on conference calls, committee assignments and reviewing and responding to e-mail on a daily basis. CSS members are strongly encouraged to attend face-to-face conferences (3-6 days each) annually. CSS members commit to a three-year term with an option of one additional year of service.
Applications are attached and are also available from Allegra Cermak, ACTG Community Coordinator, ACTG Network Coordinating Center, at +1-301-628-3312, or by e-mail at “allegra.cermak@dlhcorp.com”. The application includes a document describing the CSS mission and a current CSS Member Terms of Reference and Minimum Expectations document.

All applications meeting submission guidelines will be considered. Members of the CSS New Member Subcommittee will conduct the applicant interviews. Please review the application and instructions carefully. Please direct any questions on the application process to Allegra Cermak, at +1-301-628-3312, or by e-mail at “allegra.cermak@dlhcorp.com”.
