The ACTG welcomes investigators from outside our funded Clinical Research Sites to engage with the network. There are many ways to get involved based on your interests and goals and participation in site activity is not required. Opportunities include applying to join scientific committees, submitting new research concepts for potential protocol development, and requesting access to our robust sample and data repositories.
Early-career investigators, fellows, postdoctoral researchers, and new faculty are strongly encouraged to get involved and learn how the ACTG can help support your research goals.

Scientific Committees
The research conducted by the network is generated through five major Transformative Science Groups (TSGs): Antiretroviral Therapy, HIV Cure, Tuberculosis, Comorbidities, and Viral Hepatitis. These groups are complemented by cross‑cutting groups focused on Behavioral Science, Women’s Health, Neurology, and Implementation Science. Committee members rotate at regular intervals. Membership applications are solicited annually, and self‑nominations are welcome and encouraged. These committees review concepts submitted to the network for consideration for development into network clinical trials. The TSG’s also review requests to use samples and data.
Submitting a Concept to the ACTG
If you are interested in proposing a new clinical trial, we encourage you to contact the current leaders of the relevant scientific committees available here. Concept proposals can be submitted using the Concept Proposal Form available below.
Requesting Access to Data and/or Samples
If you would like to obtain samples from our repository, please visit the link below. Guidance on using the repository website is provided. The repository includes >2 million well‑characterized samples from tens of thousands of participants including, blood, peripheral blood mononuclear cells, serum among the 23 different sample types. These samples are made available at no cost, except the costs for shipment which the proposer is asked to support.
To request data from completed studies, please submit a Data Analysis Concept Sheet, also available below.
- Access more information about submitting an application for the Small Clinical Trials Advancing HIV Remission and Cure RFA
- Submit a Concept Proposal, Data Analysis Concept Sheet, New Work Concept Sheet, and/or Data Request (NWCS, DACS, and DR proposals for REPRIEVE and sub-studies (A5332, A5333s, and A5361s) will not be reviewed at this time. It is recommended that these proposals be held for submission until the REPRIEVE team is ready to consider proposals.)
- Submit a CEPAC-ACTG Study Collaboration Proposal Form
- If you are a clinical research site interested in joining the ACTG network, please be aware that we are not seeking clinical research sites at this time. The current sites were chosen through a competitive selection process by our sponsor in 2020-2027 (https://grants.nih.gov/grants/guide/rfa-files/RFA-AI-19-045.html).
- If you belong to a research network and would like to collaborate with the ACTG for a joint research endeavor, please reach out to us.
